Glasgow and West - Mon, 03 Dec, 2012

Glasgow and West - Mon, 03 Dec, 2012 Tube. Duration : 24.92 Mins.

Global companies who pay little or no tax have been branded "an insult to British Business". Starbucks, Google and Amazon have all come under fire from a powerful committee of MPs. There have also been calls for the HMRC to be more aggressive in clamping down on tax avoidance. In other news; MPs have been debating the recommendations of Lord Justice Leveson's report on regulation of the press. The report, published last week follows on from the phone hacking scandal. But there are sharp divisions over whether the new independent watchdog should be backed by legislation. Many MP's - the Prime Minister included, say they have grave reservations. Meanwhile; A fire station in East Lothian has been badly damaged in an early-morning blaze. It happened at the part-time North Berwick station, with crews being called in from seven others to tackle the flames. Fire chiefs insist emergency cover in the town will not be affected. Also in sport; Rangers fans are considering boycotting the club's Scottish Cup tie against Dundee United at Tannadice. The two sides were paired together in the 5th round draw today. Elsewhere Celtic face a trip to Starks Park, if they defeat Arbroath in their replay.
